JIM JARRETT - Vincent
Jim Jarrett spent the first four years of his career with the legendary teacher, Sanford Meisner two in his professional, private class the two more as Mr. Meisner's assistant and last teaching protégé. Jarrett is founder/director of The Meisner Technique School of Acting located in San Francisco. The school also has locations in Florence, Italy and Hawaii where Jarrett teaches a one-month 'intensive retreat' for actors where he offers an introduction to The Meisner Technique as well as his four week program entitled, The Business of Your Dream. His television credits include guest starring roles on Columbo, China Beach as well as the lead in the films Seeds of Tragedy and Death Dreams, starring alongside Christopher Reeves. For the last 12 years, Jim Jarrett has been touring Leonard Nimoy's Vincent to sold-out audiences in premier performing art centres, festivals, universities and museums throughout the world. In 2000, Jarrett was invited by The Philadelphia Museum of Art to perform Vincent while presenting the Van Gogh 'Faces' tour from Amsterdam. From this exposure, The International Theatre Festival selected Vincent as the only representative from the United States to participate. Vincent was also chosen 'Best of the Fest' - closing the festival in Manila in front of an SRO crowd of over two thousand people. In 2006, Jarrett's original full-length play on the legendary acting teacher Sanford Meisner had its world premiere at the historic Magic Theatre in San Francisco. Meisner was an overwhelming success and headed straight to Los Angeles for six weeks of more sold-out shows. Next, Meisner will head to New York and is currently being adapted into a full-length feature film. Jarrett also has in production a weekly documentary where he will capture the experience of teaching actors The Meisner Technique. The reality series is targeting HBO for distribution. In 2007, Jarrett introduced three children's shows - Manners Matter (designed for family audiences K-5), a unique, few-holds-barred, rabble-rousing 'commencement speech' titled Graduation Day ... now what am I really supposed to do? and finally, The Worst Thing About Me Is..., grades 6-8. All three shows are on a USwide, educational tour. When he's not on tour Jarrett resides in Sonoma, California and Sun Valley, Idaho with his most important production to date; his daughter, Kyla.
